May 3rd, 2022 JMTR Update

A quick update on the race. At this time, the race is still on. The nearby Cerro Pelado Fire has the potential to significantly impact our ability to hold the race. We are closely monitoring the situation and have been in contact with the forest service. The forest service expects to issue our permit soon and LANL has already given authorization to pass through their property. A significant wind event is forecast this weekend and we expect to have better clarity, after this wind event, as to how the fire may impact the race. Our decision to hold the event will be based on several factors, including the proximity and activity of the fire, availability of volunteers and emergency responders, and in consultation with the land owners and the county of Los Alamos.
